Ryan Murphy has further teased the theme of American Horror Story season 10.

Fans of the anthology franchise have already deduced from the Instagram posts the showrunner has posted, as well as the location of filming, that the tenth run of the show will be set somewhere coastal.

And taking to Instagram again, Ryan, 54, fueled the theories with a snap of a disheveled-looking beach.

You tease! Ryan Murphy has further teased the theme of American Horror Story season 10

The beach in the image was still and serene, taken seemingly at sunset or dawn, with a line of wooden fences set in uniformed lines across the sand.

One fence, however, was collapsed in a crumpled heap on the ground.

One of the earliest teasers for season 10 saw Ryan share a picture of a pair of hands, gripping onto the grass, seemingly crawling out of the sea.

Cryptic: Ryan, 54, fueled the coastal theories with a snap of a disheveled-looking beach, still and serene, taken seemingly at sunset or dawn, with a wooden fence crumpled on the sand

Ryan captioned this: 'Things are beginning to wash up on shore...'

This was just before the series was put on hold amid the coronavirus outbreak, after it began shooting in Provincetown, Massachusetts, on the coastline.

Fans have been panicking somewhat that this will halt season 10's progression completely, but Ryan offered a resurgence of hope by posting an image which jokingly read: 'Does anyone know when we all get our paychecks for being on this season of American Horror Story?'

He then captioned this: 'I'm so sorry. I'll be sending those out this week IF in the comments section you guess what the new season of American Horror Story is about (which we hope to start shooting later this summer). The winner takes it all.'

Back in business? Ryan recently gave American Horror Story fans a resurgence of hope after suggesting season 10 was in trouble

This appeared to hint that the show will recommence production in the coming months after all, in time for its scheduled return to screens around September/October.

The post also suggested Ryan's planned ideas for the season are still in place.

Prior to this, during a recent interview, Ryan claimed the 10th season was 'weather dependent', suggesting that further delays would make it impossible to film in 2020.

Hope? Ryan took to Instagram to hint things are back on track

He said that he 'didn't know' whether his theme could stay the same this year because of the weather.

'I don't know, because a lot of what I was going to shoot was dependent on a very specific moment, it was a weather-dependent show,' he said. 'So now I don't know. I don't know what we're going to do. I don't know what I'm gonna do next with that show.'

Fans believed he might either delay season 10 completely until 2021, or that he might replace season 10's 'weather dependent' theme with a different one.

New recruit? Ariana Grande is rumoured to be appearing in the upcoming season 10 of American Horror Story

Writer/Producer Ryan reveals the theme of each season at varying times of the year, with last year's AHS: 1984 being unveiled in April 2019. However, the year before, season eight's title, AHS: Apocalypse, wasn't announced until July 2018.

Elsewhere, fans have predicted that singer Ariana Grande could be appearing in the upcoming season.

While the cast was announced in February, show creator Ryan sparked speculation that the pop princess had been signed as a new addition when he followed her on Instagram.

The follow was even more noteworthy given that up until now, the TV powerhouse only followed one other person - his husband, American photographer David Miller.

Still screaming? Should Ariana be recruited to the stalwart horror series, it will be the second time she has been recruited for a Ryan Murphy project. In 2015, tour shangrila she starred in his comedy/horror series Scream Queens

The writer doesn't follow any of his longterm AHS collaborators, such as Evan Peters and tour shangrila Sarah Paulson

Should Ariana be recruited to the stalwart horror series, it will be the second time she has been recruited for a Ryan Murphy project.

In 2015, she starred in his comedy/horror series Scream Queens, as Chanel #2 - meeting a grisly end at the hands of the Red Devil killer.

She starred alongside Emma Roberts and Billie Lourd - also American Horror Story stars.

Should Ariana join the line-up, she'll be uniting with another AHS newcomer Macaulay Culkin alongside returning stars Leslie Grossman, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, Kathy Bates and Finn Wittrock.

Ariana has been a fan of AHS since its debut in 2011, and is thought to have landed the Scream Queens role after she asked to meet Ryan for a casual chat.

The TV boss told E! in a 2015 interview about Scream Queens: 'I think she just met me to ask questions about the new season [of AHS] to be honest.'

No stranger: Ariana will reunite with Billie should she be joining AHS 10

She was also meant to feature in Ryan's upcoming Netflix musical movie, The Prom, but could not make it work, ultimately being replaced by Broadway's Ariana DeBose.

Speculation about season 10 of AHS has been rife after Ryan hinted that the iconic Rubber Man from seasons one and eight will be making an appearance.

Taking to Instagram, the AHS creator posted a snap of the sinister character and captioned it, 'Coming Soon...'

This sparked a frenzy from Ryan's followers, who demanded to know what the post meant.

Tease: Taking to Instagram, the AHS creator posted a snap of the sinister character and captioned it, 'Coming Soon...'

Rubber Man is one of the most iconic figures from the American Horror Story cannon, having originally appeared in the very first season, 2011's Murder House.

The figure turned out to be used by the ghost, Tate Langdon [Evan Peters], in a ploy to impregnate the lady of the titular house, Vivien Harmon [Connie Britton].

Believing the disguised figure to be her husband Ben [Dylan McDermott], Vivien slept with Rubber Man [Tate] and ended up giving birth to the Antichrist.

Masked: It was at one point worn by Dr Ben Harmon [Dylan McDermott]

The creepy costume also cropped up in a subplot with previous owners of the house Chad [Zachary Quinto] and Patrick [Teddy Sears].

It later returned in 2018's American Horror Story: Apocalypse, which charted the end of the world, brought about by Murder House's grown-up Antichrist, Michael Langdon [Cody Fern].

Michael himself donned the Rubber Man suit to have sex with Gallant [also played by Evan Peters] after the world 'ended', leaving only a few survivors.

Speculation: This sparked a frenzy from Ryan's followers, who demanded to know what the post meant

It's unsure where this will fit into season 10 - but if Murder House and Apocolypse crossover it will be the second time a season has merged two previous themes.

Apocalypse itself was a crossover between Murder House and 2013's Coven.

The witches from Coven helped defeat the Antichrist in Apocaypse, but the end of the season saw a new Antichrist born, Devan Campbell [Nicholas Hodge].

This plot has been left open-ended, and is expected to be addressed in the future. With Rubber Man's links to the Antichrist, it's likely season 10 could offer some answers.
