The first MacBook Pro appeared in January 2006 and was the first compact Mac to utilise Intel processors. It replaced the PowerBook model and featured several improvements such as the 'MagSafe' power supply which made to be less likely to become damaged. Other enhancements included a larger screen, better wireless connectivity, the Express/34 slot, remote control and Front Row software, an incorporated iSight camera and du lịch sapa a thinner case.



Apple also omitted several of the PowerBook's more dated features such as modem or s-video ports and FireWire800. The hard drive was reduced in capacity from 120GB to either 100GB or 80GB.

The main selling point however was the fact that this first MacBook Pro came with a dual-core processor. No portable Apple product had ever featured dual processing power.

Later in the same year, a new MacBook Pro was released. Now known as the MacBook Pro (Late 2006), this new version included faster dual Intel processors and the 15 inch model regained the FireWire800 port.

In June 2007, the MacBook Pro (Mid-2007) appeared. This model was pretty much identical to the previous one but again, the processors were faster. There were three versions, a 15" 2.2 GHz 120 GB HD version, a 15" 2.4 GHz 160 GB HD version and the 17" 2.4 GHz 160 GB HD version. All three came with 2 GB RAM.

The next generation of MacBook Pro was released in January of 2008. It came with two 2.8 GHz quad core processors (Intel again), a 320 GB HD and 2 GB RAM. Several upgrades were also available such as 32 GB RAM, 3.2 GHz processors and as much as 4 TB HD. There was also the opportunity to choose from several graphics cards and Bluetooth and Airport Express support.

This model was marketed for well over a year until replaced in March of 2009. The Early 2009 version was the first to feature Intel's Nehalem architecture which allowed for more efficient caching and speedier point to point connections. The overall result was a much faster unit.



This model was also highly customisble. The standard spec was 3 GB RAM, 640GB HD, a four core 2.66 GHz processor and 512 MB VRAM. Upgrades included extra graphic cards, extra RAM (up to 16 GB), extra processing power (a 2.93 GHz version was available), extra HD (up to 4 TB), a second SuperDrive (18x) and Fibre Channel and RAID PCI cards. In December 2009, Apple also added the option of a 3.33 GHz processor.

14 months later, in July 2010, yet another new MacBook Pro hit the market. Again, it came with a whole range of options, but the basic configuration consisted of 1 GB VRAM, a 1 TB HD, 3 GB RAM and a single four core 2.8 GHz Intel processor.

Options included additional graphics cards, 8 TB HD, 32 GB RAM and 3.2 or 3.33 GHz processors. A server version was also released which featured dual 1 TB hard drives and 8 GB RAM.

Our final MacBook Pro during this period of time is known as the Mid 2012 version. The basic spec was 1 TB HD (7200 RPM), 6 GB RAM and quad-core Intel Xeon 3500 processor (3.2 GHz). Options included the Westmere EP processor (six-core 3.33 GHz), a maximum of 32 GB RAM, as much as 8 TB HD (over four bays) and a second SuperDrive (18x). In terms of graphics cards, the buyer could choose from additional ATI Radeon cards, either the 5770 or 5870 version. Quad-channel and dual channel Fibre PCI cards were also made available. The server version of this 2012 model consisted of 8 GB RAM and 2 x 1 TB hard drives (7200 RPM).

The MacBook Pro has actually come down in price in real terms since 2012. In those days they were relatively expensive and it was very comon to purchase an Apple MacBook Pro on finance.

Since 2012 the Pro has improved beyond measure and the new Retina version stands head and shoulders above any other laptop on the market.
